Planting of Spring bulbs by school students, playgroups and committee
members, helped by volunteers, in several locations in the
High Street, Church Grounds, Knockomie Roundabout, Grant Park, Mrs.
MacNish Memorial Bed and Whiterow.
November:
December Discussing and deciding colour schemes for summer planting
throughout Forres for the next season.
January:
February Planning Spring Meeting for members and community
Spring Newletter distributed to members.
Questionaire distributed to all local schools through Local Community
Network to seek views on formation of youth section of Forres in
Bloom.
March
Spring Meeting - Displays by our partner groups
- Gardeners Question Time, Sale of plants, bird, bat, bee and bug
boxes.
Talk on Sea Buckthorn Project by Donnie McMean. Bloomin' Wild information
leaflet issued.
Planting of Mrs. MacNish Memorial Bed in Grant Park with shrubs
and perennials to give year round colour and encourage biodiversity.
Roundabouts on A96 replanted by Bear Scotland.
Early Planning of Judging Route
April:
FIB members assist Community Warden and local school children with
litter pickups.
Distribution of pots and information to local schools and pre-school
centres for Children's Pot Competiton.
Applegrove Primary School children to take part in National Spring
Clean. This will continue throughout the summer on a
regular basis
War Veterans' Garden thinned and replanted by committee and volunteers.
Wild Flower area beside War Memorial reseeded and replanted.
May:
New signage installed at Grant Park.
Sponsorship letters delivered to local businesses.
New section of path opened by Forres Footpaths Trust.
Three day Membership Drive and distribution of flyers to raise awareness
of campaign at local Garden Centre.
Enchanted Woodland Project organised by Forres Community Woodland
in conjuction with 'Wild Things' for all local primary
schools to commemorate their 5th anniversary.
Painting of planters in High Street, Market Green and Grant Park
car park.
Replanting by Bear Scotland and their contractors at roundabout
damaged by lorry.
Preparation for unnanounced judging.
June:
Planting bedding plants, window boxes, tubs and other floral features
throughout the town by partnership groups, members and
volunteers.
New bed in Grant Park with RAF roundel and model Nimrod plane in
recognition of local community links with RAF Kinloss.
New bed at Market Green to commemorate the 100th anniversary of
the founding of the Boy Scout Movement.
Judging of Children's plant pots competition. Free tree seedlings
given to encourage families to make 'Room for a Tree'
Coffee Morning and plant sale for fundraising and awareness raising.
Compilation of Judging Portfolio.
July/August:
